“Mukambi Safari Lodge in Zambia, the real Africa....”

We visited the Masai Mara in Kenya and Kafue Natlonal Parc in Zambia last month. Yes the Mara was beautiful as always, if you can stand watching lazy lions from 20 cars at the same time, Masai selling you mass-fabricated stuff and staying at a luxury lodge with 150 guests, chefs dinners and live music..... But what a wonderful experience I had afterwards, visiting the relatively unspoilt Kafue Natl Parc in Zambia. Its bigger than the Kruger Parc, but only 5000 visitors annually seem to know and visit. We saw lions, huge herds of buffalo, leopard, all on our own...without a single other car in site for hours. This is how safari was meant to be. Vast space, close to the game, and afterwards, a tremendous stay at the small but beautiful Mukambi lodge on the banks of the Kafue river. The lodges were fine, no fences, and lions seem to wander through the camp daily. The staff, rangers and management all seemed to cater to our needs (family of 4) and the food was just to good. This is definitely one of the most stunning safaris I've ever enjoyed.
